(DANA POINT, CA) – A custom surfboard designed by San Clemente surf artist Colleen Hanley raised $1,500 during a silent auction at this year’s MiOcean Blue42 Celebration. Hanley, who has clients around the world, said she was honored to design a board for MiOcean, a non-profit organization devoted to protecting Southern California’s coastline from urban pollution.

The 7'0" board was shaped by Cordell Miller of Newport Beach. “I painted what I thought would compliment the ocean and it's energy,” Hanley said. "Just fun art for a fun event.”

The winning bidders were Heidi and Mark Draper of Laguna Beach. Mark Draper is a member of the MiOcean Board of Directors. He and his wife are very passionate about raising awareness and funds needed to keep our beaches and ocean clean.

The couple already has two of Hanley’s paintings hanging in their home. They said they were excited to add the surfboard to their collection -- and contribute to a great cause at the same time. “We love her eye, her love of the ocean, and her ability to express that in her artwork,” Heidi Draper said. “The surfboard is a very vibrant, happy piece that will bring great energy into our home.”
